Hi all,
If you're interested in getting your open water diving ticket, read on.
(PADI certification). Recognised worldwide.
Course is done over two weekends, and one Wednesday evening, and costs $375.
You will need to have passed a dive medical exam within the last 12
months, including an audiometry exam (tests hearing attenuation in both
ears at a range of frequencies). There are a range of GPs around Sydney
(~20km radius of CBD) who are qualified to do the exam - you have a choice
of about 30. See http://www.dive2000.com.au/Docs/DoctorList.pdf for a
list. These exams are not medicare-claimable, and will generally cost you
a hour long appointment.
The idea behind this is that if you ever want to do open water scuba
diving at some point in your life, say when you visit the great barrier
reef etc, this is the entry barrier. Thereafter, you can choose your level
of exposure.
Other items:
Transport, food, sunscreen.
Wetsuit, mask, snorkel, fins. (Any or all may be hired).
A free evening on Wed Jan 21st, and two free weekends following that.
Enthusiastic people only, please.
Andrew.
