Hi all,
Kate and I attended the NSW Confederation of Bushwalking Clubs meeting again
tonight, and unfortunately, for the second month running, our application of
affiliation has been deferred for another month. What this means for the new
incorporated association, Suboir United Bushwalkers Inc, is that we are
unable to have insurance in place for another month. Full apologies that
this issue still has not been finalized, my expectations were that it would
have been finalized tonight. As a plus, it sounds like the Confed is now
broadly supportive of our new arrangement.

Other items of interest:

- The "Walk Against Warming", raising awareness of climate change issues,
will be on Saturday November 15th, more information at
www.walkagainstwarming.org

- Keith Maxwell of the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Service (BWRS) would
like to highlight the importance of some basic common sense measures when
going into the bush. Points he raised include:
* Leave details of where you are going and who else is going with someone
responsible
* Don't wear dark clothing if you can help it - it's very difficult to spot
from a helicopter!
* BWRS is always looking for new members to put their bushwalking skills to
good use. Details can be found at www.bwrs.org.au
* The next discounted senior first aid course is Nov 1/2 - details at the
above website

Cheers,
Mitchell
