Dear all,
I am very happy to let you all know that the affiliation of Suboir United
Bushwalkers Incorporated with the NSW Confederation of Bushwalking Clubs has
now been approved.

This means, that as soon as we get our cheque to them (which will be this
week), our insurance will be valid. Our insurance is both personal accident
and public liability. So, if you've been holding out joining the club,
there's no further reason to delay! (note that this news does not affect the
University side of the club - that is, members or potential members who have
Access cards)

So, to remind you how to join:
Step 1: Fill out the online form at
http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?key=pa1yTWjF4dvxEwx6BJPAEIA&hl=en_GB

Step 2: Pay $30 membership fee (valid for 1 year) - see below for
instructions on how to pay.

Note on insurance coverage: It covers official club trips for most of our
normal activities. Basically, until we have our risk management policy in
place, it is best to ensure that a member of the committee has been informed
(an email to the list or placement on the walks program is sufficient) at
least 24 hours prior to the commencement of the trip. If the trip involves
abseiling or activities above the snow line, and additional waiver form must
be signed (can be done online) for the insurance to be valid. If there are
non-members on the trip, they must sign a waiver form prior to the
commencement of the trip.

I'll email more on the risk management and insurance later, but feel free to
email with specific questions in the meantime.

See you in the bush, I hope!
Mitchell
