======================
SNOWY MTNS BUSHWALKING
JANUARY 2008
======================

I have three trips planned for January, walking in the Snowy Mountains.
The first trip is only for very fit and experienced walkers, whereas the
second and third are intermediate trips. I will split the info up into
three separate emails.

--------------------------------------
HANNEL'S SPUR & LADY NORTHCOTE'S CREEK
Thurs 3rd - Tues 8th January 2008
--------------------------------------

This trip will follow the route which we had planned to walk in Easter
2007. An ankle injury turned us back just before Moira's Flat so I am
keen to make another attempt at this route.

Day 1 (Thurs 3rd)
-----------------
*depart Sydney 9am
*drive to Charlotte Pass
*camp near Foreman's Hut ruin between Snowy River and Club Lake Creek

Day 2 (Fri 4th)
---------------
*walk to Headley Tarn
*Blue Lake
*Carruther's Peak
*Mueller's Pass
*Byatt's Camp
*camp at Moira's Flat

Day 3 (Sat 5th)
---------------
*from Moira's Flat continue down Hannel's Spur to the Geehi River
*camp at Read's Flat

Day 4 (Sun 6th)
---------------
*walk to Tumbling Waters
*ascend Townsend Spur to trig station at 1838m
*descend Abbott Ridge to saddle at 1480m
*descend open scree slope into Lady Northcote's Creek
*camp at junction of Strzelecki Creek and Crags Creek

Day 5 (Mon 7th)
---------------
*follow Goat Track around to Watson's Crags Spur
*ascend Watson's Crags Spur
*Mt Twynam
*secret campsite

Day 6 (Tues 8th)
----------------
*return to Charlotte Pass
*drive back to Sydney

We will bring food for an extra day in case of bad weather or slower than
expected progress. As such, make sure that you have no committments on
Wed 9th January in case we aren't back until then.

This walk follows a very strenuous route with a fair amount of ascent and
descent. You will need to have completed multi-day walks with full packs
and be very fit in order to enjoy this walk. Having said that, this route
will take in some of the best scenery that Summer in the Snowies has to
offer. Obviously, you also need to be a paid up club member.

If you are interested in this trip please email me with some info on...
1. name
2. age
3. home suburb
4. walking experience
5. car?
6. need to borrow gear?

Cheers,
Tom Gleeson.
