Summer Series Orienteering is back!! This Wednesday, and every Wednesday
evening from now until March 2008, there is a mini (45 minute)
orienteering event somewhere in Sydney, kicking off this week at Luna Park
:-) They're great fun & a really good way to work on your fitness.

The basic idea is this. You pay about $8 and get a map with a selection
of about 30 checkpoints worth different points, with some in urban areas
and some in parkland / bush. You spend a few (10) minutes planning a
course for yourself. And then when you're ready to start, you get 45
minutes to run / jog / walk your way from check-point to checkpoint. Start
times are anytime between 4:45 and 6:45 (except for the next 3
pre-daylight saving weeks, when you have to start before 6pm).

It can be as easy (or hard)) as you want. You don't need to be great at
navigation because the urban checkpoints are typically on bus stops, park
benches and the like.

The events are in a different location each week, so it's a great way to
get to see Sydney, and most of the places are accessible by public
transport. If there's a few of us, we usually go for dinner afterwards.
Full details are at http://www.sydneysummerseries.com.au/

I go most (but not all) weeks. Feel free to drop me an email if you're
interested.

Meri
