Most of the party caught the 7:18 train from Central to Mt Victoria.
There we were to meet Alison who was being dropped off by Tom
Gleason. They hadn't arrived by the time the train got in so we had
coffee at a nearby cafe.
We then headed off for the fire trail leading to Victoria Falls
Lookout - and not long after Tom G and Alison drove past. They had
room in the car for Mike and they set off for the lookout and then
Tom G came back and picked up the rest of us. At the lookout we
admired the views and then fare-welled Tom G who had to return to
Sydney.
We made quick progress down to the creek and had a good look at
Victoria Falls and then continued to the Grose River. We walked down
a few more kilometres and had lunch at a sunny spot.
After lunch we continued down to Little Blue Gum Forest - arriving
about 3:30 pm - plenty of time to set up camp and collect fire wood.
A pleasant evening was spent around the fire.
Next morning, we had breakfast and packed up and continued on our way
to Blue Gum Forest. About an hour later - we were in the Forest -
tall Blue Gums towering above us. A most impressive site!
Then we continued on to Acacia Flat and Junction Rock. There Tom left
us - he wanted to walk to Govetts Leap and then to his Granny's Place
nearby. The rest of us continued towards Evans Lookout. On the way we
found a nice sunny spot to have lunch, on a ledge poised above a
crystal clear pool.
And then it was some more climbing - up into the Grand Canyon and
through it to Neates Glen. After that we had to walk about 5 kms of
Blackheath back streets to the station. On the way - we visited the
pub for some refreshments....
A very pleasant two days in the mountains. Thanks to everyone who
came along and to Tom G for a lift at the start.
