Party: Marcelle Gannon, Mal McLeod, Meredith Dodds, Royce Desousa, Cameron
We met at Wentworth Falls station at 11am and drove out to the Conservation
Hut. The decided route was via Wentworth Falls, Slack Stairs, Hippocrene
Falls, Vera Falls, Empress Falls and then back to the Conservation Hut.
While the panoramic views are always enjoyable, especially with cloudless
skies, the highlight of the walk was the path that follows Jamison Creek
down to Hippocrene Falls and then on to Vera Falls. For some reason it
doesn't appear on any guides to tracks put out by the National Parks or the
2000 ed Katoomba topo. While it doesn't have the formed steps like many
other tracks in the area it is still in very good condition and easy to
follow. Well worth doing as an alternative to the National Pass (currently
closed) or Wentworth Pass.
We had very civilised afternoon tea in the comfort of the Conservation Hut.
A simple day of walking with fantastic weather
Cheers,
Cameron
